Virgin Holiday insurance

I know it partially our fault but if you have Virgin holiday insurance with the "credit card" insurance proof don't go on the date on the card.
We just got home from Dominican Republic to find a letter from them saying our holiday insurance had expired whilst we were away as we have a new debit card and the old auto renewal one had run out.
I had just checked the card and it says expires END JUNE 2015 but it seems that it actually ran out on 9th JUNE.
So make sure you are covered before you go.
Good job we did not need it

Your post is very confusing. Debit cards expire at the end of the month stated on the card, not halfway through the month. When did your holiday insurance expire ?

Virgin Insurance give you a card to take with you as proof of insurance, that is all you need to take so no actual policy as such. The date on this Virgin insurance card says that the insurance expires END JUNE 2015 so before the holiday I just looked at this and assumes wrongly that we were insured.
I am not complaining about Virgin just trying to make sure anyone else who have their insurance (they will know about the card) does not get caught out.
We did not need to claim but someone else may not be so lucky.

I had Virgin holiday insurance last year & I got a letter as well as the card. This year they took money out of my account again for the insurance, although I didn't want it. Some will take money from your account & assume that you still want the insurance, unless you tell them otherwise. Although I rang them up & they refunded the money back to my account within days.
