I have seen in the US a brand new solar oven that even cooks in cloudy weather!! I noticed it now has a UK distributor a link to it is here .. http://www.gumtree.com/p/camping-kitchens/fuel-free-cooking-for-under-%C2%A3200...solar-oven-is-here/1121958392

I was wondering what others think?

Is it worth £200 ..I think it might be if you consider it can be used anywhere and you don't have to buy fuel for it..I was thinking if I had a boat it could be used on that as well..

Would love some views so I can make up my mind

seriously? how does it work? looks to me like you could only cook hotdogs in it, I take it the food has to go inside the tube.
It will never heat anything without direct sunlight.

Surely anything that's sold on gummtree and is described as "a miracle of science" has to be worth the money :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'd like to see someone try to roast a joint or a bird in it. :D

I can just about make an omelette in cloudy weather without using Grid power but that is with the help of a roof crammed with 17 solar PV panels. I cannot see how something this small could cook in cloudy weather, unless that cloud is very thin and the Sun is high in the sky.

If you are going to use that to cook with then may I suggest visiting the chemist beforehand and purchasing a packet of these:

£200 for a bit of bent metal and a glass tube!

Yeah, that's going to work really well.

If it's not buying fuel that's prompting this then you'd be better off with a small wood burning camp stove like this.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Solo-Stove-Backpacking-Emergency-Survival/dp/B007DBD3IU

I used to use a similar one and they are really good. Easy to use and surprisingly efficient.

All you have to do is pick up a small amount of twigs and small sticks during the day so you're not buying, or more importantly carrying fuel for the length of your trip.

Or, if you're camping near a fuel source you don't even have to do that, just pick up fuel when you use the stove.

A friend who tours on a bike and camps has one he made that's even smaller and lighter. He got the details from YouTube.

I'm wondering if, after all those glowing endorsements, the OP is going to buy one.

If so he may also be interested in this modern miracle - http://power-innovators.com/ - with this at only $49 and a PP3 battery he could heat the tent through the coldest winter nights. (Please please please check all the "reviews" on google before considering parting with your cc details for this one!!!)
