Car Insurance for elderly/low risk drivers.

We've just been through the annual shop-around to renew our car insurance and were very surprised and impressed by the low cost policy we got from www.intunegroup.co.uk.
In fact the on-line quote was so low I had to contact the phone helpline to check that the figure was correct. During the conversation, the agent told me the insurance is competitive only for low-risk drivers and cars and for others they cannot compete. In our case the quote was £90 less than the annual renewal and £60 less than the cheapest quote from the comparison site. I was also told that they don't have introductory discounts and offers for new customers and aim to give permanently good prices to all customers. They have a basic policy and allow you to add on extras as required.
It seems this is some kind of arrangement between Liverpool Victoria and Age Concern and I'll certainly be getting a quote from them when the house insurance is due.
One thing I did note when using the comparison sites was that when you get the cheapest quote and then key the same info into that company's site for a quote, you get a higher charge, so watch out for this.

Thanks Be Happy.
I've just check a quote for my car and it is much lower than my present insurers, however I got an even lower quote from www.swiftcover.comProud to be dealing with my debts.
2011 WILL be a good year!0 -
I know it's been said many times before but make sure the excesses stated on the low cost policies are the same as the policies you're comparing against.0

I always use a comparison site first, then look on www.greasypalm.co.uk to see if they give you a cash back, I believe swiftcover is one of the companies that greasy palm currently has a cahsback for. This year I changed to lloydstsb through greasypalm and got £60 cashback, meaning my insurance for this year (fully comp and protected ncd) will be about £104! a bargain, with no voluntary excess and only £100 compulsory excesslook after the pennies and the pounds look after themselves.0

Yeah, the comparison sites are interesting but there can be hidden stuff like high excesses. I use Norwich Union....a bit expensive but I get full RAC cover for ,I think about £40.00 which brings it to a better deal than it looks.
Life is so complicated. myself and another customer in Asda just stared in bewilderment at all the shower gells....some over £2.00...but we looked at one for £0.13!...Didn't trust it and bought something else. Too cheap!!!0 -
please please be careful with these sites - things to look out for are the excess and voluntary excess on accidental damage claims, this is the amount you have to pay in the event of a claim and when the 2 are placed seperatley on the web page it doesnt look so bad but add them together and there it can work out to be a huge amount to pay for a claim. Check if the car being offered is a courtesy car (only avail if the garage that is repairing your car has one avail at the time meaning you may not get a car) or a hire car. Also check the times you will or wont get a replacement car. Check also if it saves money to include your spouse or partner if you live at the same address even if the dont drive very often it will reduce the premium just to name them on the insurance and give them the right to drive if they ever want/need to. If you phone a company after getting a quote online you may lose your discount so check this if you phone up - if this is the case just ask gerneral questions of the phone person rather than asking them to access your details. I hope this helps.....0

I just checked the price of a couple of things i.e. car insurance(Prudential) and Inkjet cartridge for HP printer. The car insurance was only just competitive with the £65 cash back if it materialises and I thought I had really cracked it with the HP cartridge but the postage was almost as much as the cartridge and then plus VAT:rolleyes:. May as well use Inkcycle and Saga for car insurance.0
