Good credit rating - Card application rejected?

    No other form of credit. I've never taken out a loan, only ever had an over-draft on one 'student account' whilst I did a 1 year university course which is being paid back via a payment plan.

    Having no credit history is just about as bad as having poor credit history.

    They would have declined you because of the lack of information/accounts.

    A bank wants to see that they'll earn money from you and that you have a history of paying it back. Its one of the catch 22's of life...you can live within your means for your entire life and not touch a credit card/overdraft and have savings...but the banks will still turn you down because they LIKE people in debt (albeit ARRANGED debt, not defaults)...and paying them interest.
