Just been called on my TPS-registered home telephone from a withheld telephone number.

Caller claimed to be Health and Safety and wanted to know if we had smoke detectors and if we checked them regularly.

Rapidly went on to the classic SAS Fire & Security script of informing me that burglaries were up in my area, that they had a (limited number) of free alarm systems for offer and that I should immediately talk to their sales person.

We are still registered with TPS and the sales person seemed unable to explain how they had called me or the others who have reported similar instances of TPS violations. See these pages:-

http://www.tellows.co.uk/num/01622679577

I see that they also used to call from this number:
07914742498

For those who are interested, "Red Buttton" address is
Unit 5, Tolherst Court, Turkey Mill, Ashford Road, Maidstone, Kent, ME14 5SF

They appear to have been calling people using the telephone number
1622679577 but have clearly now switched to dialing incognito.

Reported to ICO...

  • I spent a day on the telephone yesterday trying to find out where RB security obtained my elderly mother's contact details. She is registered with TPS and ex-directory. I was informed by TPS that they are bound to keep recordings of the initial phone contact and should provide me with the date and time to further any investigations . This they have refused to do, they also gave incorrect information as to where they where obtaining their lists. I am now reporting them to the ICO ,TPS and the Direct Marketing commission. I spent a few hours on different review sites and it would appear that they do target the elderly living alone. I'd like to know how you progressed with your complaint.

  • thanks for your help. I have managed to establish this morning who the managing Director is.
I do not give up easily when i know in am right. I am now looking into past directors and associated companies. I smell the same odour as you. It's their involvement in Help The Aged that worries me most.
  • Would not be surprised if HTA had sold their contact mailing list to them....
