Car Insurance Overlap
Scenario - I have insurance expiring at 11:57 pm on 27th June and already signed for my new insurance to start on 26th of June (confusion on when dates end and start when signed up) for the same vehicle
Question - Can these 2 insurances overlap or will one cancel the other out?
I query this as my new insurance is with Hastings Premier and if i have to change the date of which it starts i will be charged a £25 admin fee and existing is with Admiral and would get charged £50 early cancellation fee.
Thanks in advance

Don't worry about it, there wont be a problem.
Besides, I wouldn't have thought Hastings would charge beacue the cover hasn't yet started, just ring them if you're concerned.0 -
Depends if they pull it up on No claims Bonus as you can not use any no claims bonus on two policies at the same time.
So technically you had no, no claims bonus you could use to obtain a policy as it was still in use on the other policy.
They never pass a chance to make money.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
Thank you guys.
I called Hastings and they have advised me that it happens a lot and will not make any difference leaving it as it is.0 -
It might only cause a problem if there was a claim that happened whilst you were covered with two policies. One or both might refuse to cover because you have another policy in place. Will you need to drive your car in that period?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

No they won't. If you're covered by two policies it might make life a bit more complicated but each will end up paying for half of the claim. It might only cause a problem if there was a claim that happened whilst you were covered with two policies. Unless one of them manages to wriggle out, in which case you're not actually covered by two policies at all - and the other insurer certainly can't refuse to cover you on the grounds that you were covered by another policy which doesn't actually cover you.0 -
Out of interest, which Insurer has policies finishing at 11.57pm?
I ask as it's standard to start cover at 00.01 so a company doing this could leave their customer uninsured for a couple of minutes so it's an odd time to cease cover0 -
