Not showing on Electoral Roll

I signed up for the equifax free trial as I've just had a credit agreement fall off and wanted to check how I was doing.
Answer: pretty good, 20 months since a missed payment, using 44% of my current credit (it's a baby credit builder card, which I've had over a year now.
All apart from the big red box saying I'm not on the electoral roll! Which is frustrating as I know I am! I registered after I moved in about a year and a half ago when it was still paper, but after filling in the form twice and ringing the office it still hadn't registered me. So i waited till they did the online registration, registered and figured that would be it. So the election rolls around and my polling card didn't turn up, I rang up and the lady had to reregister me. I went and voted.
Anyway, it's still saying I'm not registered at my current address! How long does it take from registering does it show up on credit reports?
is it normal to have this much trouble getting on the roll? I'm moving in about 3 months (to a totally different council) what can I do to avoid this debaucle again?
