How long does it take for gov.uk site to update?

I've just sorned a vehicle on the gov.uk website but when I click to check if it's taxed on the website it just shows as untaxed in red. Will this update at some point and say it's sorned? It makes it look as though the vehicle isn't legal, even though it is off-road and sorned.

When you declared SORN, did you fill in an email address so they could send you a confirmation? If so, you should get an email quite soon after processing the declaration, if anything comes of it then you have your email as proof to show when it was declared. Because I don't trust anything I always take a screen-shot of the confirmation screen as well.

I should say I'm not just paranoid about this - I once declared SORN in a Post Office, then got a fine a few weeks later for not doing so. As I'd got the receipt it was all sorted out easily, so now I always keep some proof I've done my bit.

Don't worry, the police etc don't use .gov.uk to check on vehicles, they use direct links to DVLA etc

I wasn't thinking about the police. I just wanted to be able to go online and see it confirmed. I've printed off the confirmation page but just wondered how quickly it gets updated.

Ive just noticed that it says on their website that it might take 5 days which seems ridiculous!

Not really. The 2 systems aren't linked so the probably only run an update once a week/ 5 days.
