would be interested to know how you get on. Ours causes no issues as we have no waterbutt on that downpipe and the drain works fine, but I know the bathroom water shouldn't be going in the rainwater drain and presumably we're polluting a watercourse somewhere as a result...
I am fairly sure, from other investigations, that this drain goes into a sewer drain.

To say that our plumbing is 'interesting' is an understatement!

I woulde get a diverter attached above where the washbasin atached. You'll have chemicals and stuff (shave cream, soap, cleansers and other inorganic materials) being poured down the sink which may not be great for the plants.

    That's what I'm looking into.

Apart from water, it would just be toothpaste, soap, the occasional cleaning product. No-one in the house shaves, and if they did, it wouldn't be at MY sink! :rotfl:

THEN I realised that the downpipe we've attached it to is also attached to the washbasin in the en suite.

We've got the same arrangement. We had a pipe fitted to take the water from the basin straight down to the drain.

This is what we have done.

Only problem is, when you let water down the sink, it starts burping. Double burps, quite loud, repeated several times.

    Sounds like a frog! :rotfl:
