Hastings Direct unfair treatment, please help

Dear Friends
My car insurance policy is with Hastings Direct and last year (Oct 2014) a lady bumped into me and is claiming whiplash (surprise surprise). There was no damage to me or my car so I wont be claiming anything and as the accident was under 5MPH her mysterious whiplash claim is being disputed by Hastings.
Fast forward to now (08/06/15) aand my policy is coming to an end so I am preparing new quotes. I have just been told that until the claim is settled I will be losing 2 years no claims bonus (absolutely fair enough) I will get them back once the lady is proven a false claim.
The problem I have and if anyone could give me help with is I have 9 years no claims until the lady hit me, so I presumed I would have 7 years no claims to quote my new policy with. Hastings have now told me there maximum no claims is only 6 years and I will be sent and certificate with only 4 years no claims on it? iv been with Hastings 3 years and last years certificate says 8 years NCB.
Is this correct? fair enough if it is Hastings policy of 6 years but I want a quote with other Company which allow 8-9 years no claims which would give me 6 to 7 years no claims until the claim is settled.
Am I being scammed? and is there anything I can do about this?
Many thanks for any advice and help

Yes, and a lot of companies max at 5 years so wold be reduced to 3.
I'm guessing there won't be much difference between 6, 7, 8 and 9 years.
Did you protect your NCB?0 -
Thanks or your reply rs65. Iv been with hasting a number of years and looking at last years NCB certificate it says 8 years NCB printed on it. They inform me they have a policy of 6 years max, which im not disputing. I am questioning that if I go else where for insurance shouldn't I be allowed to state my actual number of NCB which makes my quotes cheaper and not the amount Hastings have set me in guidance with there 6 year policy.
I find it highly unfair. Why also would they print 8 years NCB on my certificate for last year if there saying there policy only allows 6 years
Thanks for any replys0 -

A lot of people are very precious about their NCB and would be outraged if Hastings only provided evidence of 6. If/when the claim is resolved in your favour, you will get evidence of 9 years. Surely Hastings are treating you fairly by evidencing more than they actually use to rate?
Presumably they were cheaper rating on 8 years last year than others were rating on 5 (or whatever).0
