I use Outlook.com web-based email. I have a Windows desktop and a Macbook Air laptop.

All is fine on my Windows desktop.

When I use my Macbook laptop, the emails themselves are fine, but I am unable to insert links that work. If I try to insert a link, something adds extra characters, and the recipient does not receive a working link.

Is there anything I can do to fix this, or is it due to incompatibility between Microsoft and Apple?

Sorry, title is an error, now corrected. Nothing to do with adverts, that was an earlier thread! Just want to know about clickable links now!

    Tried another browser?
Outlook.com requires Safari 5.1.10 or higher.

I've just checked, and I'm using Safari 7.1.6.

    Any other thoughts?

Just tried this on my MacBook with both Safari and Firefox and it works fine for with Outlook.com all links posted work fine.

I'm at a loss to explain what might be happening

Well, for some reason, it happens on mine!

I've tried sending links to friends, and sending them to myself, and they don't work on my MacBook!

It's good to know yours works, so maybe mine can be fixed.

I've done a google search, and it says it must be set to 'rich text' mode. How do I check this?

For the benefit of anyone reading this thread in the future, I've fixed it. Rich Text was turned off.

Turn it on by opening a new, blank email. Click 'options', then select 'rich text'.

The row of formatting icons will then appear at the top of the email.

Very easy when you know how.
