Orange Fairy - you are doing very well with your deposit saving in such a short amount of time!!
I felt a desperate need to get out of the house yesterday so ended up going to the second hand clothes shop and spending £50 on clothes and toys and then to another shabby chic type shop and picked up a few bits for the children's rooms - £30. But I sold a big ticket item on bay of e for £20 so that will cover some of it.

Three loads of washing currently on the line and another in the washing machine. Heating is turned off, summer duvet is on - Spring has most definitely sprung!!

Husband is away so I managed to sort out my sewing stuff in the front of the TV last night. Chucked out a load of old fabric I wont ever use and found some pink stuff to make DD a little fairy dressing up dress.

I also deleted a load of old pins off my pinterest boards which are not applicable.

Working out tonight first time in 2 weeks so its going to be tough but I can do it. I have already lost an inch off waist, thighs and hips!!

Right must get on and do things!

We are saving for our kids as well unfortunately we've also had to borrow it from them DD13 £1400 DS9 £1000 and DS2 £700 to go towards the deposit for the house we've just bought but we have agreed with them that we will give them £100 on top of what we owe them so they are happy with that and like yourself we aren't giving them the money until they are 21 xx

Doobop - Ha ha! I've done that before! Think the last time was when I was pregnant or working full time!!

So DD's furniture arrived yesterday for her room. Its two pieces I was going to put on top of each other. I haven't tried it because to be honest I think it would look awful! Her room is tiny and it would be so furniture heavy, there would be no room for changing her nappy on the floor let alone storage of the inevitable larger toys when she gets older.

The larger of the two pieces has been moved to the office. We were going to buy a similar piece anyway so we have actually saved ourselves some money there.

Its made me think about how long we can stay in this house. We need to have paid off this debt and hammered the mortgage down enough for a big deposit in about 3-4 years, before DD grows out of her cot!!

I'm going to stop worrying as its totally doable so long as we stay focussed.

Less than 2 weeks to go until the credit card is paid off!!

    Happy Friday everyone!

I would normally be drinking a nice glass of something or a cold beer right now but it cant.....because I'm ill AGAIN!!!

Another sore throat - not as bad as the last one but it hurts when I swallow and I feel a bit weak. It has officially ruined my Easter hols - pretty much all plans have been cancelled including todays and yesterdays. After driving to the drs today, I immediately went to sains and bought aspirin and ibuprofen as well as a bag of donuts and bag of cookies I felt that sorry for myself. (I shared them with the kids and husband though - and they made my throat feel so much better!! HA HA)

So anyway I am sitting in the office doing 'work' (clearly) whilst the husband paints DD's room (while she is sleeping in ours) - very rock and roll!!

I felt really sad at the thought of going back to work this week. Such a long commute to such a stale place for me. Then I cheered up as I found a job that I can apply for in a school a few villages away, 2 days a week!! Only catch is its for older children which I don't have much experience of but I can learn. I'm going to go for it - I've got nothing to lose. I spent some of the day imagining what it would be like working just 15 mins away from home!!

So 'working' tonight is going to include printing off all the details.

I'm also going to combine the 3 to do lists I have floating around the house into one master one so I actually know what I need to do.

    10 days till pay day!!

    Morning diary!

So I've worked out that the £700 Xmas holiday and the £400 wedding weekend can be paid for by October using £200 a month from husbands money. Its all factored into my budget spreadsheet so I've taken it off the signature.

After I pay off my credit card next week (Eeek!!) The next focus will be saving £1000 into an emergency fund.

After that I am going to start saving money into an 'if I don't get a job for September fund. I've roughly worked out how much 'extra' money which would be going on debt I would have by the end of August and come up with the figure of £2000 to aim for. That money would be an extra buffer for if I am unemployed at the end of the year. If I do get a job for September then we shall keep saving aiming to buy husband a new car or at least pay for a proportion of it. We will keep his current car going as long as possible.

This thought stream happened last night after I caught him looking at BMW 1 series 5 year old car for £10k!!!!! Much over his original plan for £7-8k. I've told him then we wont be able to pay off as much of the mortgage. An £8k loan over 5 years would cost £860 ish of interest and cost £140 a month which is a lot a month over 5 years considering there are £8k of cars currently in that big loan that still aren't paid off!!

I feel this is a very sensible plan and I'm very pleased with myself for reining the husband in too and not bending to his 'above his means' ways.

I've learned that I need to be the strong one when in comes to money in our relationship.

Here comes a frugal summer! More frugal than last summer anyway!
