Chromebook dead???

My Chromebook battery ran out of power this morning. I plugged in the charger immediately, but all I've had since then is a totally black screen with a battery symbol flashing in the centre. I've pressed buttons, fiddled about, but...nothing. Really concerned that it may be dead.

Does anyone have ANY suggestions?? I'd be very grateful...

    Please ignore last post - have got it to work. Held down power button for long enough and it re-booted. DOH!
