Hi all
Quicky question (which may sound daft, but I've never done this before) - can I deposit a cheque into a joint bank account if only one of the account holders is named on the cheque (and they are not present with me to deposit it?)
Thanks

Yes you can x0

Yes you can as it is payable to at least one of the account holders. A cheque payable to joint names should not be payable into a single named account (but there is a fair chance you would get away with it)0

Thank you both, paid it in no problem.
What IS strange (at least to me) is that my bank won't let me change the joint account holders address at the same time I was changing mines? They said he has to go in himself and change it!

That is because the bank doesnt know the other names account holder is moving with you, some people have joint accounts with their parents/siblings/Failed relationships.
So each named party will need to change their address.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Banking & Borrowing, and Reduce Debt & Boost Income boards. I guess that makes sense, just a bit of a pain when OH works away.
