Asda Glasses Prescription

Options
I had my eyes tested at Asda about 9 months ago and ordered two pairs of glasses - one for distance and another for reading. I went back after a few weeks and advised them that I was struggling with the distance glasses and that even the numbers on the freeview box were blurred. I was told that I should persevere as my prescription had changed. I kept using them for a few weeks and then just shoved them in the back of a drawer and reverted to my old glasses. A couple of weeks ago I decided to try them again and as I need glasses for driving at night (which I rarely do) I used them for a drive to the airport. I eventually had to take them off as I couldn't see properly and as it was dark and raining I risked having an accident. I went back to Asda last week to complain and had another eye test. The optician who tested me said that my new prescription had changed and was more like my old prescription from 3 years ago. However they wanted to charge me again to replace the lenses. My argument was that the last prescription was inaccurate and why should I have to pay again when I had not used the glasses because they were useless. Does anyone know if there is a time limit to lodge a complaint about something like this.

There is a six year time limit for making a claim like this.

However, Asda seem to be saying that your eyes have changed over the last nine months such that the glasses prescribed nine months ago are no longer suitable. Asda cannot be accountable for changes to your eyesight over the last nine months.

It does seem a bit of a coincidence that your latest eye test and the one three years ago are quite similar.
Could a mistake have been made on the test nine months ago... who knows? That is going to be very difficult to prove now.

Sorry, but I think you have missed the opportunity to claim that a mistake was made. You really should've pursued your complaint when first noticed, i.e. soon after you got your new glasses.

My eyes are constantly adapting, I needed distance glasses 5 years ago, 3 years ago I didn't, then the problem changed to reading glasses. Now I have went from +2 to +1. Wearing glasses can have an effect on your eyes so you can't say that your eyes aren't constantly changing.
