Groupon shafted me

Hi all.
Last October I purchased a voucher through Groupon for a kayaking experience. The voucher was valid until January. I couldn't get in touch with the kayaking company, and then someone told me they're only open May-September. Groupon gave me a £17 credit (which was what I'd paid), but now I'm thinking (as I peruse all the rubbish offered by Groupon) that I should have had a full refund, as they sold me something that wasn't even available. Do I have a leg to stand on consumer rights-wise, and if so what legislation/regulations do I need to cite?

You should get a refund by the method you paid. If you paid by card, it should be refunded to your card.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Im confused, you paid £17 for the voucher and Groupon have refunded the £17?
What's the issue? They have put you back in the position you were in before purchasing the coupon which is all they need to do.0 -
I said credit, not refund. I can only spend it through Groupon.0

The OP is not back in the same position.
They now have a groupon voucher but do not want to buy anything else from groupon.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

What did they say when you asked for a cash refund?0

Anything unprinted, unamortized Groupon can be returned for a refund within 3 days after purchase. After that, all sales are final.0

Are you sure?0 -
Groupon are horrible. I got an offer for a personalized iPad cover, the website to personalize it didn't work as advertised as they were updating it, and the voucher expired before it was fixed. The company denied it, Groupon would do nothing and I lost my money. Never ever touch them.0

I agreed, These are the policies of Groupon, this may help you.
Why don't you try other Coupons Websites ??
Local:
Within a week (7 days) of purchase, any unredeemed voucher can be returned. After that first week, Groupon is unable to offer a refund. But keep in mind that you can always use your voucher for the face value, even after the promotional value expires.
Getaways:
Getaways often have restrictions on when you can stay and by when you need to book the vacation. In the event that you can't take a trip during those dates, Groupon offers a refund on any unredeemed Getaways voucher up until the date restrictions. After that, you can still use the paid value of the voucher, but Groupon won't be able to refund it.
Goods:
Certain restrictions apply for Groupon Goods, but as long as the fine print coincides with Groupon's policy, you can return most goods within two weeks (14 days) of purchase, no-charge. If an item arrives broken, damaged, or missing pieces, let Groupon know, and they'll tale care of it.
GrouponLive:
Unfortunately, events purchased through GrouponLive are nonrefundable after the date of purchase. However, if an event is postponed or canceled, they'll be happy to let you know and provide you with a refund.

It sounds like you got this refund around 6 months ago. I would imagine it's a bit late to complain that you got credit not a full refund.0
