GoDaddy email gripe

Someone bought a domain name with Godaddy, God bless their little misguided hearts, and asked me to set up an email address for the domain.

One hour later I managed to figure out the on-line settings, find the mailbox settings and get it working.

A remarkably convoluted and pointless system that seems to be sponsored by Microsoft Office 365 which attempts to nab you at every opportunity.

Expensive little email service too. Not my cup of tea at all.

Are you using their webmail system?
If so, ditch it and use your own email client. Shouldn't be too difficult to configure for the domain already purchased and gets rid of unwanted advertising.

The domain comes with one free email hosting package if one address is all you need then no need for an addon email service.
