Move to North Wales advice
Hi guys
I'm looking for some advice. I was born in Bangor, but my family moved to England for work, We always had our family holidays in North Wales and I try to go back once or twice a year.
I'm nearly 30 and I desperately want to move back to North Wales, England just does not feel like home and I'm not happy here. Me and my fiance have talked about it and it's something we know we have to do. The problems are.... we're both long term disabled and on benefits so work isn't an issue at the moment. Can benefits just be moved to Wales? No idea how that works. We'll need a house that accepts DSS and pets as have cats and dog. I have looked on rightmove for places to rent in the Barmouth or Porthmadog area but it all seems to be holiday let's and no proper housing. Problem is doing all this from the Internet and not actually been there to look is there good social housing around there does anyone know?
I don't drive neither does my partner which could cause a few problems but hopefully Barmouth or Porthmadog are big enough this won't be too much of a problem. We live in Cheshire at the moment so we'd have to save up for the move to pay for removal vans etc.
Has anyone got any advice or suggestions?
Sorry for the long post and thanks for reading x

Hi
As I understand it, your current benefits simply move with you. Depending on which benefits you're on, you might qualify for a moving grant which is non repayable. (If they still do them)
If you are currently in social housing, have you considered looking on a house swap site?
Barmouth pretty much shuts down over the winter and is quite hilly in parts if mobility is as issue for you, possibly Porthmadog a better option. In the immediate area there is also Tremadog and penrhyndeudraeth.
Consider registering with an estate agent in the area for rental alerts too.
I hope this helps x:T wealth is a state of mind :T0
