Android - Sync/Backup - Wifi Networks

At home I have 2 wifi networks ... 2.4GHz and 5GHz. My phone (Nexus 4 running 5.1) has been connected to both networks at one time or another.

I now only want to remember the 5GHz network. So I select the 2.4GHz network and choose Forget. All well and good - that network appears as an available network but is not saved.

If I reboot my phone and check my wifi networks, the 2.4GHz network has returned as Saved. How can I permanently delete that as a saved network?

The phone will search for wifi signals so it's picking up both networks.
    One thing to try :

Go to the settings icon of the Nexus 4
    Select "Wi-Fi"
Then go to the 3 dot menu at the top right.
    Select "Advanced"
Then look for "Wi-Fi frequency band"
Change it from "Automatic" to "5 GHz only"

Hopefully that will make sure it only looks for the 5GHz networks and ignore the 2.4GHz.

I expect that to happen, and am happy with that. The problem is that it sees the 2.4GHz one as a Saved network when I've already told it to forget it.

I know Google Sync backs up wifi networks and passwords. I guess my question is - How do I remove that network from the backup? I've seen an option that stops ALL backups, and deletes the backups from Google servers, but that sounds quite drastic.

Which is all well and good, but when I'm out and about (e.g. connecting to BT Wifi) then these are usually 2.4GHz. So whilst it's a solution, it's not a workable one. :(

Just checked my phone (Settings | Backup and Reset) and noticed there was no Backup Account set. I've updated this to my main Gmail account - let's see if this makes any difference once I get home. :)
