If you have a straight auction with a BIN then the BIN will disappear as soon as someone places a bid.

The only time this does not happen is where the auction also has a reserve price and the bid does not meet that reserve price. In those cases as soon as a bid goes in that is capable of winning the auction, ie it is more than the reserve, then that BIN will disappear as well.

If BIN is still there after a bid it means the item has a reserve price that has not been met. Once the reserve is met then the BIN will disappear.

I think it is pointless starting an auction at 99p and having a BIN of say £100. If using BIN's startauction at minimum you are prepared to accept so for example start price £80; BIN £100.

Anything else and the BIN is a waste of money.

If I'm really bored I will bid on a 99p item just to remove a BIN.

Some sellers put a BIN of £100 or over just to mask the bidders user IDs without going for a private auction which looks dodgy.
