£1600 4 years ago for me so sounds right, the quoted 4k by British Gas is double what most independents would charge.

Yep, BG wanted £3600 for the same work.

Just changed my 15 year old combi for a new Worcester condensing combi boiler - £2k all in, that included re-siting the flue. About 6 hours work for the installer.

Replacing one combi for another does not involve removing the hot tank and the tanks in the loft. Swapping a conventional boiler for a combi will cost more.

If you have 2 (or more) bathrooms, you are better off with conventional boiler.

I have a large house with a combi boiler (it was there when I moved in).

If my wife opens kitchen tap while I'm taking shower, the shower just drips water :(

The only solution is to fit a power shower.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Last year we spent just over £3000 having a conventional replaced by a combi. However, this included all new radiators, new pipe run (meter to boiler), removing and refitting a gas fire and a replacement of the toilet syphon .

If you got a Worcester or Vaillant boiler in that price too, that is a good price.
