Insurance2go - Laptop cover

Hi there I covered my laptop with the company in the title for accidental damage.
Recently I dropped the laptop, which cracked the screen. I promptly put in a claim and was asked to provide proof of purchase.
As I'd been given the Laptop as a Christmas present so had to ask for the receipt. Turns out it was bought brand new (not refurbished) "Buy it now" from eBay.
The insurers have initially denied the claim based on their term and conditions, which state "We will not cover items purchased via an online auction (e.g. eBay)"
The point I am trying to make with them is this. The terms and conditions do not exclude purchases from eBay, only online auctions. This item was bought directly & paid in full immediately and there was no bidding involved, therefore no online auction. I believe that if their terms and conditions are to exclusively exclude any point of sale, they should be more specific and state something to the effect of "We will not cover items purchased via an online auction websites (e.g. eBay)"
Obviously this is only my interpretation of these terms, so I'd like your objective views please, if you'd be kind enough?
Thanks in advance

Could you post the link to that please? That's not what they quoted in their email. Thanks for your reply.
This is what they referred me to in their email:
We would refer you to your terms and conditions and draw your attention to:
“What is not covered?
We will not cover the following:
11. Any claim if your laptop or tablet PC was purchased:
· via an on-line auction (e.g. eBay)”.
And this is copied from a link (which I can't post) to their terms.
11. Any claim if your laptop or tablet PC was purchased:
• from a retail or sales outlet situated outside of the United Kingdom;
• second hand; or
• via an on-line auction (e.g. eBay).0 -

If your policy merely refers to items bought in an auction not being covered then you have grounds to complain.
Use their complaints procedure and escalate the complaint to the FOS if you are unhappy with their reply0 -
You need to check the wording of your own policy, not what is on their website.
