Buying from DWH

Hi all,
I am after an idea of how long, in other's experiences, the whole process takes of buying a new build property with a developer.
The site where the new build homes will be build was approved for 400 new homes back in 2011. Other developers have built their share leaving only David Wilson left to build. We're really interested in buying a 3 bed property from them but as it stands, have very little details.
We're currently saving up a deposit and the longer we have the better, as rent is currently cheaper than it would be for the mortgage but on the flip side, too little time could leave us without enough money for the deposit.
The site is "due to launch in Autumn 2015". Can you help me with your accounts of buying a new build and the time scales you experienced.
Thanks in advance.

Hi mcowan77,
Thank you for the reply. I did see your post, how frustrating.
Please can I ask;
When was the 'launch' of your site?
When you say you've purchased the property, is this the £500 deposit to secure the plot?
Do you have any more details that could give me an idea of what to expect? When the foundations went in? How long it has taken up to now to begin putting the roof on?
Any further information would be great. Thank you!0 -
The new build that I'm in the process of buying is on an entirely new site. I went to visit the sales people in December when the first plots were put onto the market, and at that point they were selling from an estate agents as nothing was built.
The sales centres were built in March, and then the show homes were finished in the middle of May, which is also about when the first people started moving in.
I reserved with £500 in May, made my choices last weekend, will start my mortgage application in August and am hopefully moving in in December (although the time frame is Dec/Jan/Feb + 6 months and it was originally meant to be finished in October when I first enquired).
Currently the foundations are in and the garage has been started, but not up to starting my house yet.0 -

The site is nearing completion.
There is only about 12 left to build.
Yes I have paid the £500 reservation fee.
The foundations where down when we reserved in April, the roof is just going on just now and I've been told it will be complete in sept
Hope that helps0
