I've decided to make some christmas cards this year and can't find out the simplest of things. I can't find out what glue to use to attach things to the front. I've googled but can't work it out.
Can anyone give me some advice please?

I usually use 'sticky dots' that I get in the card supplies place. I'd run out the other day & was in Tesco & got some clear sticki dots made by Bostick. I actually prefer using these. I suppose it depends what you want to stick tho'.
Enjoy making them anyway!Nicotine Free since 01.08.2010 :j:j:j

I feel the two are connected0 -
It depends what you want to stick really, glue dots are easy to use. There is a video here on using sticky dots.

Around (94p+78p postage) for 48 dots.
Bit cheaper on ebay (90p+60p postage)

Some other video's, pva glue etc.

or you can use foam pads, double sided tape etc0 -
i tend to flit between the dots, foam pads and my hot glue gun which is great. thanks for the reminder i really should get going on these. what sort of thing are you planning? if you have kids getting them to colour a christmas scene and sticking it on can be nice, plus itll occupy them!0

i use foam pads from pound shop, also double sided sticky tape, also from pound shop, both can be cut down to size for small fidly bits.0

My Prit stick gets used for lots of gluing when I make cards and since I usually buy them at 2-for-a-pound in Poundland, they are very economical too! I use my glue gun for heavier or more fiddly things (like buttons, flowers etc) and I use the micro dots for delicate or sheer things. Good luck with the card making although I must warn you, you stand a chance of becoming addicted!
If I didn't have to go to work, do shopping, housework, etc, I'd never leave my craft room!:o :rotfl:

Not in reply to your sticking question but my mother and sister, who are both keen and skilled cardmakers swear by this chain of shops for all sorts of really good quality supplies.

Thanks for all of the replies.
I bought a kit from QVC last week so it should be arriving any day now. It has all kinds of papers and bits and bobs in it. I've also bought extra cards and envelopes from ebay to make the kit go further. I bought it partly for me and partly for any visiting kids during the holidays although I can see me getting a bit protective about "my" things!:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -
i use a mixture glue stick/sticky dots/foam pads and if decoupage sometimes silicone glue, good luck with ure xmas cards im half way through mine:xmastree:Is loving life right now,yes I am a soppy fool who believes in the simple things in life :xmastree:0

I use a mix of pritt stick and sticky foam pads for mine, depending on what style is on the card.
If u go to uk scrappers there is a card section on there with xmas cards, might give u some ideas.
I have started mine too.

Angel - warning - protective is not the word - like most crafters, I would happily 'do time' for what I perceive to be wastage of my stuff!!!! I also use the qvc kits from time to time - really good quality stuff and good prices.
Prepare to be utterly absorbed and obssessed!!!
As for glue - you have been given really good advice on here - the main thing to remember is that most card making stuff is paper so a dry adhesive is required - bigger stuff (buttons etc) needs stronger stuff - you can use any one really - UHU, Bostik or silicone - great stuff for producing a 3D effect.
Take care & enjoy!
