Halifax £100 sign-up - any ideas when this ended?

After a prompt from the weekly tip to get my finger out and ditch Barclays, I went through the sign-up process for the Halifax account recommended in the tip. This was on Wednesday and I got a letter dated the 9th with details of signing up for the online service.

Now that I think back, I can't actually remember if the £100 bonus was mentioned at the time. Does anyone know if this offer was actually kept open until the 11th as Martin suggested in his email? If not, when did it close? Also, how do they define opening an account - does the application count, or do they actually have to formally accept and open the account? I've not actually had anything that suggests I have been accepted other than the information on signing up for the online service. (Which seems a tad odd - you'd have thought I'd have something confirming acceptance either before or at the same time....) I've had nothing to sign and return either which I've usually had before with financial dealings.

If I've missed the offer one way or the other I probably won't go with this one, but as the email suggests you've got to wait 2 months before you get it paid in, I'd rather know now when I can still cancel and change quickly. Ta!

As far as I know it ran to the 11th of August.
My account opening was dated the same day as I filled in the online application so yours should be opened on the 8th August.
You should receive a welcome letter and a switching form but give them a few more days.

  • Halifax are the biggest con bank i have ever encountered in my life. I opened the same account online on the 14th.of March and accepted their terms and conditions online on the same day. When i applied the £100 offer ran between the 5th. of Feb. to the 23rd. of March. They send me terms and conditions again in the post which i signed and presented in the bank on the 17th. of March. I have been trying to claim my £100 ever since then. Can you believe at last i got a call from their customer services today saying that the offer was withdrawn on the 16th. of March and although i had accepted the T&C's online on the 14th. the account was open only on the 17th. the day i presented the hard copy in the bank. They make up their own rules. They say they can witdraw the offer whenever they wish - how the hell would i know when i was filling the form and the website still had the offer. Can anyone know if i can take this case further

I'm beginning to get worried about whether Halifax is moving the goalposts with this offer as well, I was originally told the £100 would be paid to me after two months of salary payments had been received by the account. Nothing happened, I phoned customer services and was told that they weren't entirely sure (which is ridiculous), but they thought it would be paid at the end of three months.

Doesn't inspire confidence. The switching process was a nightmare as well, had to submit the same information three times, it took forever.

With the original offer the £100 was to be paid at the end of the month following the second month of £1000 being paid in. So if your second payment was in May then you should expect your £100 at the end of June provided you complied with all the other conditions. So effectively three months.
With the latest offer its 6 weeks after the end of the month in which the second £1000 is deposited so about three and a half months from opening.
