Plate transfer or Sorn 1st

My logical brain says plate transfer 1st. (Get the plate you want on the car you want). THEN do the SORN on the old car.0

Thanks
Also found out dvla launch (2 weeks ago)new website for transferring plates. So hopefully make great process easier. Guess don't need to fill paper forms and payment is processed online
They said docs would be sent 3 - 5 days
I will try it out at weekend and report here0 -
Sorry website is - may be useful to others

Looks like you posted the same page twice there.
To take a number off your old vehicle it's:
https://www.gov.uk/keep-registration-number
To put the number on to the new vehicle it's:
https://www.gov.uk/put-registration-number-vehicle
The above pages only operate Monday to Saturday 08.00 to 18.00
Do let us know how you get on, as there are mixed reports of how easy it is to use this new service.0 -
Thanks
I was not told by dvla there was 2 different website to take and put a plate on
I would have thought 1 website would do the whole transaction?
Will provide feedback once done0 -
It probably is the same in the back end, but having separate pages for each action makes it easier to keep it simple for people who don't use them often.0

I called dvla today as was ready to do the transfer but as I only have the v5cs supplement new keeper slip I am unable to do it online. I would need to wait to receive the new log book before doing online.
However they advise I can continue with the paper form v317 and v62 , with curr not car log book and with the new keep supplement slip only + £80. So will proceed with this0
