Hi, I was made bankrupt 6 years ago this November. Am I correct in saying it will therefore fall of my credit file this November. I was discharged after 6 months. Could anyone advise on the impact of this coming off my credit file. Will it improve my credit score by a lot?
Thanks
Thanks

It doesn't matter, as no one sees your score, and it's based on nothing in particular.
But clearly lenders will view you more favourably once negative infomation is no longer visible.0 -
Have you checked your credit files and how the debts included are recorded on your files?
If necessary have you done a 'credit file clean up post bankruptcy'?
Potential lenders viewing your credit file will assess what they see on file. Obviously they may still ask about whether you have been bankrupt on the credit application, in which case it could still impact on a potential lender's lending decision.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hi Thanks for your replies. Yes I have ensured all debt on bankruptcy are no longer on file of which they are not. Was just wondering if been on file affected your score that the credit reference agencies give you. I assume the scores are not what is used by the lenders but would think it would flag up I have been bankrupt.0

Once off your file all impact on those will go as well, as if it never happened.
The entry on the London Gazette will remain if anyone cares to search, and you would still have to declare it if specifically asked, but trace and impact on CRA reports would be gone.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
