O/S Daily Thread Thursday 18th June 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, bright and sunny. Have a load in WM to put on line shortly.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was hunters chicken, mash and veg – all eaten and enjoyed. I’m cross with myself though, because I cooked extra chicken at the same time whilst I had the oven on, and left that covered out on the side to cool before putting in the fridge, and left it out all night, so it’s now in the bin – don’t want to risk making everyone ill! So tonight I’m not sure what we will be eating but I do need to get more milk, so will go to MrL’s and pick something – first I will have a look in the fridge/storecupboard/freezer.

I didn’t get everything done yesterday afternoon/evening/night – so need to get those chores done and then crack on with what I would normally do on a Thursday etc. Have MIL and FIL coming over this morning, as they want me to book their car parking for whilst they’re away on their hols, so will get that done. Hopefully they won’t stay too long, then I can crack on.

    Keep safe and well x

Good Morning chums, beautiful day already in north Kent. I have my oldest friend June coming for lunch today so I have been doing some prep. so we get lots of chin-wagging time :)
I made a creme caramel last night for pud as I know she likes them, and did some cajun chicken drumsticks to go with our salad for lunch.Bearing in mind I have known her for around 46 years we still seem to find lots to natter about when ever we meet.

Her OH is part of the flight crew for the 'Solar Pulse' aeroplane that is at present going around the world. So it will be nice to find out how he is getting on.

My DGS Henry had his prize giving last night and won a prize for his Spanish which I am very pleased about. He is a very focussed boy and although sports mad, also is very good at turning in his homework as he writes everything in long-hand and rarely uses copy & pasteing as his contempories seem to do. Quite a suprisng as at one time when in primary school he didn't seem bothered about learning at all.He had a sudden light-bulb moment when he was about 10 and really buckled down and has worked hard to catch up so we are all very pleased with him.
Right enough blethering, time for a cuppa I think, hope you all have a good day and the sun beats down on what ever part you are in today :)
    Cheers chums JackieO xxx

    Morning everyone.

Bright white cloud in Glasgow this morning. How I miss my own bed.

Visit to the docs yesterday was fine, my hip problem is muscular which is better than skeletal or the nerves so now have to wait for physio. If it takes too long I'll come back here to have it done privately.

This morning I have the dentist. I have to have a small filling to the back of my front two teeth which are wearing thin and are now opaque. Apparently it's a common problem and an ageing issue! I'm not sure that growing old is any easier than growing up.

After the dentist I'll pop into town for a short mooch around. Mum doesn't want any shopping so I'll head back home about 3'ish.

JackieO - well done to Henry. He's a credit to you and your family.

Time for a cup of tea.

I hope everyone has a great day.

    Morning All

Well done to Henry JackieO and enjoy your natter.
Gers, hope you get physio soon, we have a self referral scheme here, saves time initially but if they don't see it as important you have to wait quite a while for an appt.

Emotional day yesterday, DD got the flat she was after so she was fit to burst when she got home from work. She hasn't messed about, looked at 1 flat and went for it! I think she would be hard pressed to find anything else as good in her price range. I am presently gluing everything down in case she puts her name on it!!

Sad news too of a very good friends passing, he used to work with my DH and the families have been friends ever since. Him and his wife have been so good to us since we lost DH, he will be sorely missed. DD particularly upset as they had a good relationship where insults and respect ran together.

Weather grey and damp so no washing out today, salad for lunch and probably sausages for tea.

Enjoy your Thursday, take care. XX
  • Morning one and all. Just typed a long post and lost it, so a condensed version!!

The weather not living up to the forecast - strong wind blowing and where's the sun!

Just enjoying a bit of peace before it's time to wake up the 3 DGDs. They are back again tonight for another sleepover as DD doing two early starts in a row at work. Not yet christened what we are having for tea but as there will be seven of us (DD and BF staying for tea too) I want to make something I can just pop in the oven, rather than having lots of pans etc on the go. Probably a Bolognese Bake or Shepherd's Pie.

No shopping to do today as we decided to go to Aldi* yesterday. I popped in Iceland first for an odd couple of things and struck lucky! They had just reduced packs of fresh mince and lean pork loin steaks to £1.50 each, so quite a few packs went in my basket and are stashed away in the freezer.

Well almost time to brace myself and waken up the girls. It will be the usual mayhem until they are pushed out of the door into the car!

Have a good day all (((((((HUGS))))))) if you need/want one. Take care whatever you are up to xx

    Morning all,

just popped online for a few minutes as my Grandson will be here shortly. Managed to steam the floors but he does like to 'help' me with the vacuuming. As you can imagine, he's more hindrance than help but he does so enjoy it! Apparently he doesnt get the same joy out of his Mummy and Daddys cylinder type vacuum. He really is such a joy!

Bin men took my heaving wheelie bin of rubbish. Time to fill it up again.:D

    Onwards and forwards,

    have a great day all.

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a lovely sunny morning here and I managed to lie in until 7am so I feel very happy. I missed hubby this morning but saw the girls go off to school ok. I asked the girls to keep the kitchen clean and tidy as I have a gas man coming to look at our boiler this morning. I've just checked and they have done a fabulous job, my sink is gleaming :D.

I've just taken out some turkey breast for tea and I will make a curry with it later on once it's defrosted. My lovely friend brought me round 6 jars of curry sauce as she can't eat them any more as she has to follow a dairy free diet. She also brought a load of sweets and biscuits for the girls so they are very impressed.

I don't have anything planned for today so I will get on with reading my book. That reminds me, I'd better put my kindle on to charge.

Well, I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

Camelot - we have the self referral system too, but I didn't know about until the doc told me! I've filled the form in though I won't wait too long before taking the lead. I may even get a sports massage whilst here in Glasgow. There's a great place on Great Western Road, not far away from from my dentist.
