EE Account went from settled to defaulted after several months!

Hi Guys,

I hope someone can help me out. I left the UK 1 year ago. Before leaving I cancelled my EE mobile contract (I made sure the lady understood I was leaving the country and I needed to settle my account). She promised me that would be the last payment ever. I paid the amount and soon after, the account appeared on my credit report as closed and settled.

That was in MAY 2014. In January the account was still settled and closed. Now, in March, I checked my credit report again and for my surprise is RED and thrown to the ground. When I checn what happend, the EE account is DEFAULTED. And all the months are in red since MAY. Apparently I own them 36£.

How is this even possible? Is this even legal? Why would the wait all those months to tell the credit report company I owned money? Why didn't they send me an email? They knew I was leaving the UK. I specifically told them.

I have written several emails to EE and they don't reply. Call center is useless. It seems EE call center is based in India. The indian guys would be telling me total incoherences!

My Credit Report company told me that they are not replying to them either.

Can I sue them? This is affecting me emotionally because all stress causing me seeing my report like that and facing a challenge to secure a mortgage once I am back to the UK.

Thanks for the replies in advance.

Regards

Alejandro

Which credit reference agency are you using?

If they have queried the entry with EE and EE have failed to reply then I would challenge the credit reference agency to ask them to remove the entry on your credit file.

    Hi @Tixy

Thanks for the suggestion. I am not sure how does this work though. The reference agancy is Noddle. But if they actually remove the entry on their file, would Expedia for instance be able to see it anyway? Shouldn't be EE who removes the entry?

Also, I am sure I should be covered somehow just for the fact that the account jumped from settled to defaulted after almost a year have passed. Didn't even give me chance to pay the 36 pound they say I own. Jesus, this is a nightmare!!!!

    Regards
