Box In Staircase Bulkhead

We've removed some ugly fitted drawers in the house we've just moved into and one of them has the slope from the staircase bulkhead behind it:

Does anybody know what I need to do to box it in? Can I just affix a timber frame to the existing structure and add plasterboard to sides and a piece of wood on top?

We built a floor to ceiling wardrobe around ours (with MDF) and painted it to match the colour of the walls.
