Where have you been in Spain on a family holiday?

I know it's a lot to ask but if anyone can give any help or advice it would really be appreciated :)

2 adults and 2 children, going for 14 nights, in the last week of July 08 (any day, the cheaper the better but I'll worry about prices another time).

I want a nice beach nearby, a waterpark not far away, child friendly, NOT nightclubs banging away nearby all night (don't mind bar noise, but couldn't be doing with an 18-30's kind of place) and of course ~ sunshine!!

The kids will be 12 and 10 by that time next year and ideally we would like to go All Inclusive as it saves all the 'Can I have a drink/ice cream/burger/lolly ice' every 10 minutes

Where would you recommend?

We don't mind the Canarys or the Baleriacs (sp?) but I'd like some info from you lot on the best resorts and/or hotels.

The last time we went away we went to Menorca which was lovely, but as the kids will be older, we want somewhere a little more 'busy' if that makes sense?

Cheers :D

It's in the south bit (near Malaga) Costa del sol I think. Went there in May, got a beach, a water/theme park. Can't do the link thing, but there are a few web pages about it.

There are a few 'private hire' villas about too, although I stayed in a hotel (Sunset something?)

Sorry I'm not good with details - might be worth a look though.

Salou is nice for older kids as Port Aventura is there, and Barcelona is just a short train ride away for a day trip.
I don't think it's the prettiest part of Spain, but the beaches are good and its lively and not too expensive.
Majorca is great too - nice resorts to suit all tastes and plenty of places of interest for all the family. There are some lovely scenic parts too, and loads of flights from all over the UK.

Camping La Siesta in parrafrugel. Been 5 times and I know from previous posts many others have too.

    http://www.campinglasiesta.com/

We book direct with the camp. Have had caravans but pref the log cabins. Fly to Girona with Ryan Air and hire a car via who ever does the best deal at the time. There are lots of great beaches a short car drive away and others a short walk. Shops, bakery, restaurants, bars, kids club, sportsfacilities, laundrette, entertainment etc etc. lOur kids love it. check reports on the holidaysuncovered web site.

Was last there in May, as good as ever but for the weather....... rained a bit!
I save so I can spend.

would you concider mallorca? it would offer you everything you want, the water park is down in magaluf but that resort I would not recommend if you don't want lots of bars and clubs, you could go to palma nova which isn't far from magaluf or you could go right up to the north to alcudia which is great for families and then go on the day trip to the aqua park

parafrugell is great but you may need a car to get t othe different areas for water park etc, but it is very close to ammeneties and beautiful.

i would also recommend the la pineda- next resort from salou- but more family orientated and not so busy, beach is great and safe and there is plenty of good accomodation, and dolphin water park in resort. can be a cheaper diy holiday- short transfer from reus - but packages too and has portaventura theme park 10 mins on bus away and 1hr to barcelona.

if you prefer more spanishy cambrills is the resort on the other side of salou and cambils bungalows are excellent for a family

if you want any other details just ask!
  • Costa Brava - Camping Internacional de Calonge or Camping Cala GoGo next door. Both have direct access to the beach and are within walking distance of Playa D'Aro with its Water Park. Both sites have lots of activities during the summer months. Cala Gogo is a bigger and bustlier than Campling Internacional.
