What does £1000 p/x to clear mean? (From a 'Seller')

if a seller is advertising a car to sell,

and the price listed is £1000 p/x to clear

What does that mean?
£1000 is the price they are selling it for?

or if NO p/x is considered, could the sale price be higher than £1000 ?

or they want the buyers original vehicle to be given to them for part exchange ?

What could it possibly mean?

They are saying its £1000 for the car and is one they got as a px when selling a more expensive car, and they want rid of it.

If they are selling the car "to clear", there is a reasonable chance that you might find "sold as seen" written on the receipt if you were to buy it.
Even though business sellers are not legally allowed to use "sold as seen" (or something similar) when selling to consumers, quite a few still try to get away with it when selling cheapie vehicles.

Essentially the dealer's saying that it's priced cheaply because he got it as part exchange, it's not the sort of car he normally deals in, and he wants to shift it quickly to stop it cluttering up his forecourt. Honest guv, it's not because it's a rusty bucket of bolts or nothing.

No part x means he doesnt want some wreck that he may need to pay someone to take it away, the £1000 car he is selling is as cheap as he wants to go.

Does he normally sell part x vehicles like that or is this one a bit better than hos average one?

But the trader isn't saying no p/x , they are saying they took it in p/x as part of another deal, as in outside the normal range of vehicles he deals with

I saw a p/x to clear car recently; it said fair condition. When I asked the trader what was 'fair condition' he said there was some rust on a wheel arch. What he neglected to tell me was that both sills had gone; I could put my finger through. Left that one with him - a Mazda 323.

To the OP: Generally it means they want to sell it and never see it again, therefore don't expect the usual help and warranties you might expect from a dealer. I do believe however that SOGA still applies and the car should be fit for purpose. However if it turns out it isn't fit for purpose, be prepared for an uphill struggle to enforce your rights.

I think thats a very accurate summary. Sometimes you can get an "unprepared bargain", but moreoften its a trader trying to offload a car that probably has faults that he doesnt want to stand over.
