£1300 for fencing

Options
My friend got a quote to fence her garden approx. 30 ft with close board 5ft 6 ins height and matching gate. They have to work round some neighbour's trees. She is in greater London. She got a quote from a bigger local company for £300 less. She wants to go with the smaller firm £1300 as he came to measure and will do the fences, he said it wlli take 1 day and a half. The other big company, she is not sure who she will get to put the fences and they will take 1 day. She wants to go with the small company as they are landscape gardeners as well and she might need their services and she likes the idea that the man who quoted will do the job himself but I think for an extra £300 is too much. I would like to think what other people think? Thanks

Im glad i don't live down south.. i have just had delivered all the materials for a 70 foot long fence. Posts, rails, 6x1 boards and 20 bags of postcrete (£500) So for your fence its costing around £1000 for a day and a half work....

it's up to your friend who she chooses to erect her fence, and how much she wants to pay.

John That is cheap the post Crete alone is £6 x 25kilo a bag from builders merchant £120 , posts ten foot apart , cheapest I see for 3inch posts is about £12 each =£84\then the rails and boards . He must be doing it for something to fill his day . Cant be making much more than £5o a day and that's sourcing cheap wood. Two fences came down in gusts this spring, so having done them myself I have good idea of material costs.

How much do you think good quality materials for the fences will cost John? The closeboard panels will be built in situ. Thanks

It all depends what you want, Red Cedar http://www.silvatimber.co.uk/fencing.html
    Oak, https://www.uk-oak.co.uk/product-catalogue/oak_fencing
    or just cheap treated https://www.jtdove.co.uk
I am putting the green treated fencing on the external side of my fence, on the inside (my garden) I'm putting western red cedar slatted screens.

I have got close boards 6ft by 6ft. They are the standard ones and they were slot in between concrete posts. Are there two types of close boards.
