I am taking that in to account. It is mentioned in post #6 as well as #10.
Settling a defaulted debt does not alter how long a credit account entry stays on file.
Court action does not alter how long a credit account entry stays on file.
I'd also disagree that a CCJ (or decree in this case) is an almost certainty before the 6 years (or 5 in this case) if a debt is passed to a debt collector.
There are many thousands debts that become statute barred that are in the hands of debt collectors.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Sorry to be confused.
Example: A defaulted account is on my account. The default date is 01/01/2010.
The final date that I can be chased for this debt in Scotland would be 01/01/2015.
Does this include CCJs?
This debt will still be on my credit file for another year and will fall off after 01/01/2016.
What happens If I arrange a payment plan to clear this debt. How will my credit report change? Will it change the date that this DEBT will fall off?0 -
If your planning on buying a property in a few years and thats the reason then i would wait it out and keep an eye on the post for any CCJ demand court letters. If you do get one then you have 28 days to pay the debt in full without it affecting your credit rating.
Or alternatively settle the debts and pay your bills on time.0 -
Thank you very much. That sounds like the best plan.
Half way there. Will wait it out and if I get a CCJ letter then will pay in full if I do.
Thanks.0 -
Out of curiosity,
If I took the debt out in Scotland and then moved to England, would the 5 year or 6 year rule apply?
What if I didn't change any of my bank details to the new address?0 -
Could anyone help?0
