No charge for moving cash to the platform, charge every time you buy, or sell, units in a fund, or shares.
Except some platforms don't charge for fund transactions, they make their money from the annual charge instead. Others don't have an annual fee, just transaction charges.
Either way, you need to consider both the annual fee, and the transaction charges before choosing your platform.Eco Miser

So each time I put, say, £50-£100 a month into it, I'll be charged?
Later on the ones that charge fees could turn out to be a better deal but you're many years away from that point at the moment.0 -
Thanks again guys. Going to go with fidelity: seems to suit the approach i want to take and has a good selection of funds.0

The vanguard life strategy 100 acc or 80 acc would look like a good choice for you. A collection of cheap trackers offering a simple diverse portfolio in one fund of funds.
It's the only fund I am using in my SIPP at the moment (also with fidelity but via cavendish online as the annual charge is slightly cheaper)0
