Tesco Bakery

Since our local Tesco bakery became "Euphorium" I've found that the bread/rolls don't last nearly so well. I bought bread from there a few weeks ago for the first time and the loaf didn't last well, but thought I'd try again.
I bought 4 tiger rolls yesterday, ate two and the remaining two have just gone out to the birds - parts of the rolls were just about impossible to even break up.
Bread purchased from Tescos used to last at least two if not three days and was often sold out by mid-afternoon. At 6.00 p.m. yesterday they still had mountains of bread remaining so maybe others too are finding the same problem. The staff seemed to be just hanging around chatting so I didn't get the impression that they were rushed off their feet trying to keep up with demand.

I've all but given up on the Tesco I used to use on a regular basis.
It underwent major refurbishment last year which also resulted in the bakery becoming a Euphorium. They now have a fairly extensive range of exotic cakes and breads but seemed to continually have shortages of "standard" bread and rolls.
A fairly large part of the store was also converted to a coffee shop (Harris & Hoole) despite there already being a caf!/restaurant there.
Just about everything in the store was moved around and despite having many workers whose sole job was to help customers find items, many of them didn't have a clue where stock was located and would end up sending people in totally the wrong direction.
I've now moved to Sainsbury and Waitrose and have been to Tesco once in the past 4 or 5 months and don't miss the place at all.0 -
I agree about giving up on Tesco - I only popped in there for convenience. Morrisons/Iceland/Aldi get most of my business now with Sainsburys as back-up and Waitrose for the one or two things that nobody else sells.
There seem to be more "managers" around in Tesco that assistants - I certainly couldn't find an assistant to help me find something. 1 person on customer services who is responsible not only for CS but selling cigarettes and stamps and lottery tickets and helping with the photocopier.0 -
The worst thing I find about Tesco's bakery is the unreliability of availability.
It makes things awkward to plan if you don't know if they will have certain bread staples available on the day you shop. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
Stores that have Euphorium or the Bakery Project no longer have bread baked in store, its all done at a central bakery in the south east and delivered to stores. Thats why it doesn't last as long and once it has sold out thats it until the next delivery, they can't just bake some more instore.0

It's probably caused by most of the bakery stock arriving pre made and frozen. They just heat it up in the Tesco Store so once they run out they can't make any more until the next lot of frozen shaped dough arrives0
