Single Premium MPPI advice needed

Hi, hopefully someone can help please?
I've just stumbled across some old papers from Essential mortgages relating to a single premium MPPI taken out with D & D Homecare Ltd in 2003 for a mortgage with Bristol and West. The amount was £3000 added to my mortgage over the mortgages full term despite it only covering me for a couple of years.
What I'm desperate to know (and despite reading many other threads) is:
a) Can I make a claim from 2003 (before FSA regulation came in during 2005)?
b) if so, who would I contact as both Essential mortgages and D & D Homecare no longer seem to exist?
Thanks

Depends if essential mortgages still exist (if not, then no) and if they were regulated by an earlier body at the time.b) if so, who would I contact as both Essential mortgages and D & D Homecare no longer seem to exist?
Essential mortgages as D&D have nothing to do with it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Many thanks for the quick reply, it's very much appreciated. It's logical I suppose that it's Essential mortgages as the advisor should be the people to receive my mis-sale complaint rather than the underwriters D&d homecare but it appears they disappeared in 2005.
It also seems odd to me that the 'schedule of insurance' signed by D&D homecare is on Essential mortgages headed paper. I wonder if they're one and the same?
There is some info mentioning 'Essentia mortgages' passing over business to a company called 'manor mortgages' but I suppose they wouldn't be responsible for the mis-sale either, (and the fact it's pre 2005).
I guess I can't pursue it as I'm at a dead end so will concede defeat and maybe see if a claims company can dig something up.0
