5 years worth of Bank charges

Hello 5 years ago I walked into a bank and they signed me up to a silver account which means I am entitled to certain rewards, well when I sat and looked through the terms and conditions I decided that I would cancel this so went back to the bank and the same guy agreed to cancel my application. Now I know it is a bit crazy that I have only noticed a bank charge each month since for £10 5 years later but I just assumed it was a direct debit for my lotto or other bills I have taken out over the years.

It has been confirmed that the charges are from the account they told me I closed and that I can only write a complaint about it and that it will be unlikely I can reclaim the charges. This is a lot of money £728.66 to be exact and I was just wondering the best way to go with my letter of complaint?

  • Thank you and I have all the payments printed out as my bank will only go back 6 months which I thought was odd and also I have never used any of the benefits as I didn't believe I was still on that account
