I've used both many times, TL gets most of my business now.

£420 for tyre insurance would be insane in my book. I could tyre all 4 corners for less than £80 on my car if I really wanted.

I'd just keep the £420 ringfenced for tyres then least you know there are no exclusions!

Had tyre insurance on a new BMW a few years back. Cost £100 for 2 years after heavy haggling. A new tyre cost £112 so it seemed a bargain.

Had just one claim for a new replacement tyre and that was straightforward, though it had to be done at a dealership and they couldn't do the replacement on a Sunday.

I replaced the tyres on my Yaris with Avon tyres at National and haggled free insurance if that helps.

It's an insurance policy, therefore it's priced to make money for the insurer. On average the client (you) loses.

Absolutely right - so please encourage as many people as possible to take out tyre insurance.

The majority will lose out - but high mileage folks with pricy tyres (that's me) win almost every time. Yay! :D

But to be serious it's a simple calculation that everyone needs to make - taking into account their own personal circumstances.

For some people and their car it's a sensible idea - for others it would be near lunacy.

The rates are the same for everyone - including those like me who make several claims - there is no 'No Claims Bonus' on tyre insurance.

It's worth if you get it for free with the new car. Including the alloys cover.

It's still very close - £410 for 3 years insurance, well you can buy Bridgestone run flats in your size for £100 each, so after fitting your insurance is costing equivalent to 3 new tyres, or one new tyre each year.

I think even a high mileage drive would be unlucky to have a tyre fail every year.

I have to agree. I also do a fair amount of miles on 18" runflats and in the past 20 years I've only had 2 punctures, touch wood. Not really worth it imho, like most extra insurance/warranty products.

    Tyre Insurance ??????
Un believable........whatever will they think of next.

I am about to launch a company offering windscreen wiper and screen wash insurance. Very competitive pricing with only a £50 excess per claim.

    Shall I sign you up?
