Lloyds TSB credit card PPI query

Does anyone know if the PPI was pre ticked on old credit card applications with the TSB? I have had my credit card since 1996 and I am pretty sure it was given me at an account review in branch when I went in to get a loan which also had ppi on it. I don't remember any mention of ppi for the card I was just asked to sign if I wanted the card for emergencies. I also came away with an overdraft and life assurance!! I remember walking away thinking the only thing they didn't give me was house insurance!

I cancelled the PPI in 2007 as soon as I realised it wasn't compulsory but wondering if being pre ticked or from a certain time would make a complaint worthwhile especially with the loan ppi and life assurance being sold to me at the same time?

Also when I got the card I was a single parent working full time and if I lost my job for any reason my tax credit would be reviewed so my benefit would be increased so I would have income whilst securing another job. Not sure if this is a reason I can use for my misselling complaint too.

Has anyone complained about the tsb credit card ppi successfully?

pre-ticked applies to internet purchases (a written form cannot be pre-ticked as you have to write on it). Was yours an online application? (unlikely given it was 1996 and you believe it was in branch)

What you have described makes it more likely that insurance was suitable rather than unsuitable.

    yes they have.

  • Thank you. I don't want to waste my time or the banks so your response is appreciated :)
  • The application was done in branch but the advisor filled the form in on her computer then printed it off for me to sign. I just signed it along with the overdraft agreement, life insurance and the loan agreement.

That does not make it pre-ticked. Pre-ticked would require you to access the website and the website application be pre-ticked.
