Car insurance bad credit

Hi forum my car insurance is to be renewed in 10 days, and in the past i always pay in full.

I have bad credit with three default acounts in late 2009, but no ccjs etc.

Could i be refused car insurance if i ask to set up a monthly direct debit this year?

Thanks for any help

You can fail a credit check at any time irrespective of your history

Try for instalments and see what happens

I used to let the direct debits run but when i had the light bulb moment it suddenly became clear that we were wasting money by paying by installments.

The interest charged by some companies can come as quite a shock.

Different companies have different level of checks for paying by installments. Some will accept almost anyone and others are more like traditional lenders.

APRs are very high in most cases though and so paying by credit card is often preferable if you cannot afford to pay in full up front.
