£1200 to paint a room

Our kitchen refurbishment is in the final few days and we got a quote today on painting the kitchen, it was 1k+vat, so £1200 in total.
The room is 300 square foot in total, so not small and it'd involve sanding down where holes have been filled etc. but that still seems like a very high quote. Also this is for dulux/johnstones paint, not Farrow & Ball or Little Green. This isn't painting all the cabinets, just ceiling/walls.
The decorating company thought it was a 4 day job as well.
Are we entirely wrong in thinking this is over the top?

If you've already had the new kitchen fitted, then maybe the painter will have a lot of cutting in to do, which will increase the price.
It's usually cheaper to pain the kitchen before the units are fitted.0 -

Having sourced some other quotes at £330, £550 and £700 it seems as if the first is just crazy.0

A lot of trades will bump their prices if they already have a lot of work lined up, presumably once in a while someone makes their day by accepting the quote.0
