Buying house directly from owner

Auction fees aren't the same thing as an EA contract to sell.
Most estate agents run the auction or are associated with auction house. I don't mind who is getting paid, when I buy a property listed for auction through an estate agent, I need to pay fees, which are not payable when buying directly from owner.0 -

If you had said that you were only looking at properties sold at auction, I wouldn't have posted what I said.
Why don't you just buy a house through an EA, rather than at an auction?0 -
These days, most properties are listed in auctions, even those whose vendors prefer to sell by pre-auction offers.
I personally do not like the concept of auction; it is good for people who want to buy several items.
When I want to buy a house, I cannot make comparison in auction. In an auction, I was interested in two properties; I did not bid on the first case, as I was preferring the second house. So, I skipped the first one, but the bid for the second one was dramatically increased far beyond my budget. Then, I lost both cases.1 -
Maybe the sort of house that interests you is commonly sold by auction in your area, but I can assure you that 'most' houses in the UK are sold by the conventional method of offers being made around an advertised price. These days, most properties are listed in auctions, even those whose vendors prefer to sell by pre-auction offers.0 -

I suspect that instead of losing out you may have had a lucky escape
Auctions are best left to those who have a good knowledge of property, or have very deep pockets.0 -

I am an open book. I am looking for a cheap terrace house in North East to renovate it from scratch. I am not an expert, just have a limited saving for a cash purchase. When I bought that, my questions will be in the renovation section
