Is there perhaps a local garage that could be rented to park your car?

I wonder whether this is the house which was in the papers (last year ?) where the owner was complaining that her car was blocked in, due to loss of access.

I can't imagine this would be the house in the papers (although I'm not aware of the story.)
But this house losing access was entirely self inflicted. The driveway now owned by the factory belonged to the council (I think) before, meaning anyone could use it for access.
The house owner told us that he looked it up on the land registry, decided to buy it from them, and then sold it on to the factory at a profit - legally blocking themselves in in the process.
Not even agreeing a right of access clause for their house is unbelievable to me. How did they ever think they would sell it in the future.
(they had a verbal agreement between them that the house owner could use the driveway.)

Renting a local garage wouldn't really be feasible. There are none nearby that I know of, but I also have a works van that I have to bring home at night which contains computer equipment, so I couldn't park it on the street away from my house in case of theft etc

Before putting this to rest for us, we called the factory this morning and spoke to the owner. He has had a few calls about this and knows that the reason the house wouldn't sell / has had a massive price drop is because of access.
He would be willing to talk about selling access (through his lawyer), with the buyer, but of course since he has the upper hand in any negotiations and knows what the house is worth if it had access, I can imagine he will be after quite a sum.
That being said, he also let slip that he is considering moving his factory to other premises in the near future, so there would be a huge question mark over what/who would move in there.

There's no way the headaches all this would bring is worth it, so we're out.
