  • Hi,

I'm originally from Hatfield Peverl - 5 min drive from Maldon. Area on the whole is nice, never had any problems where I lived. Got a few friends who live in Maldon and again, no serious crime etc - some parts are nicer than others though.
Not as keen on SWF myself, there are better areas around.

Where are you working? *I am assuming you are new to area due to job relocation?

Also depends on your age and budget. There are some really nice areas and small villages around that way but it depends if proximity to nightclubs is important? Bus services to Maldon and surroundings aren't that frequent or reliable but go for it if you have your own transport

Maldon is a really nice area though donit know it well enough to tell you of any good / bad areas. Its a lot older than SWF which is quite a new town. Again dont know SWF that well to advise.

Have you thought about Danbury? Now thats a really nice area, pricey though.

Rush hour commute to Dagenham would take you just over an hour, depends a lot on the A12.

like the others i am not that fond os SWF too many houses for my liking and quite cramped tho it does have a station and a shopping area and because of this is more expensive and maldon is getting so as well

there are loads of small villages around maldon and in between maldon and SWF that would be cheaper... for instance where i am there is a 3bed semi up for £190K and a 3 bed detached would be around £230ish, there are some places even cheaper but may be a bit remote for u to get onto A12

feel free to ask more questions i know the area pretty well and love it round here

    Hi

I live in a village, about 8 mins from Maldon and 15 from SWF - I love it here, We have a lot of self builds and the prices vary greatly but your can still get a 4 bed house for just over £200k here.

Maldon is lovely but I would avoid Heybridge -the prices are cheaper there for a reason.

SWF is more if you prefer a less rural location - they have shopping centre, couple pubs untold Indian Restaurants and MD's. Asda own most of the shopping complex. William de Ferrers high school is a sports college and has brilliant results my dd goes there and I am more than happy with it. Plume in Maldon is a performing arts college and once again is a very good school.

House prices in Maldon are higher than the surrounding villages, even when house sales in other places in the country are declining Maldon are still selling - you have everything countryside, lovely villages and the water.

I myself prefer visiting Maldon and living on the outskirts - we moved here 3 years ago from Leigh on Sea and have never regretted it - its the best thing we have ever done. We have done some work on our house and it has increased in price by 25%.

Please feel free to pm me if you have any more questions.

am in complete agreement with essex girl.. avoid the big towns eg maldon, heybridge, woodham etc

a lot of the villages in the dengie have detached houses for around £230ish... look at latchingdon, althorne, burnham, steeple, tillingham (if u dont mind being further out), there are lots more do a search on rightmove ... a lot of the dengie is very good value compared to maldon etc

essex girl i am guessing u arent that far from me, glad u like it as much as i do .. mnd u maybe we shoudnt tell them how nice it is lol

just did a quick search on rightmove within 5miles of althorne and lots of houses come up in your price range,, ignore the rochford ones as they are the southend side of the river

feel free to ask anything else
