Underpinned house....advice please!

I've just exchanged on an underpinned house. All the paperwork was available, including building regs sign off. I would probably have walked away if the vendor/council were unable to provide it.
Please note just because Building Control has "signed it off" does not mean that you have a guarantee from Building Control. In fact since Murphy v Brentwood (1991) a Building Control authority generally cannot be held responsible for a pure economic loss as a result of a failure on their part.0 -
I appreciate what you say about building control sign off not being a guarantee. However, for me it was preferable to have that as it would be one more factor to reassure myself (and by completing the paper trail, future buyers), that the work was done according to required approvals and of a proper standard as defined by building control who tend to be overly fastidious, if anything, which in this scenario would have been better for me.
Taking everything into account and everyone's posts, I've decided to walk away from the house. Personally, I didn't want to deal with all the potential issues over and above trying to sell a house which can be hard enough if the market turns and I'm in a chain etc.
