Riding gloves

I bought a new pair of Roekl riding gloves (£32, so a considered purchase) from a trade stand beginning of March. They've been used about 10 times but they are now showing considerable wear.

I have contacted the company I bought them from and I felt he was quite dismissive when I said I'd bought them from him 3 months ago......he said that was ages ago! He said that he would return them to the distributor in this country but he didn't hold up much hope on them doing anything. He would not change them or give me my money back as this had happened to him before and he has ended up losing out! I'm assuming he felt it was ok for me to lose out though!!

My question is........is this satisfactory as obviously he isn't saying he won't do anything, but in my mind, he's not actually sorting it. If I went to a high street retailer, I would expect them to either exchange or refund. I would not expect to wait while they sent my item back to the main distributor.

Please can you advise me before I go back to him. Many thanks

They have the right to have them inspected for fair wear and tear.

I know you said you have only wore them about 10 times but they wont believe that and for all they know you could be using them for putting up scaffolding. Three months doesn't seem long but in the wrong conditions and without proper care they can diminish very quickly.

I know the feeling, that's why I stopped buying the expensive motor bike gloves.
