... I got a letter saying they were increasing it from £1200 to £2400, and this week I have just had another one saying they will increase it from £2400 to £3600. (If I do nothing it happens automatically, I have to actively ring an 0845 number to stop it...)
FCA regulations effective 26 October 2015 require financial services companies to use numbers starting 01, 02, 03 or 080 for contact by existing customers.

Check their official website for updated numbers. Try calling 0345 in place of 0845. It's possible the numbers have been changed but email and letter templates haven't been updated.

I'm surprised you couldn't get other cards as your history isn't that thin with having a loan and a mortgage. I agree with the suggestion to check the other agencies just to be sure there is nothing adverse on there.

  • thanks all - I did look through everything on experian and noddle and didn't find anything adverse (and just assumed that it was because my mortgage was still relatively new and I'd never had a credit card before.

I plan to apply for a better card (that I can earn cashback or something on) once I've been using the Aqua card for a year - if I get declined again then I'll sure to be back here moaning about it...

To me, the increasing limits suggest that this company trusts you with their money.
If another company sees that, it can only be a good thing in your favour.
