Hi Cel
I am indeed a fan of humans too
On the exercise front, if you get bored of your old vid you tube has loads of exercise classes on there for free.
Also, if you really want you a*** kicked might I suggest a session of Jillian Michaels ( some also on YouTube).
If clothes are very snug charity shops often turn up some surprisingly good workwear.

Hi Cel,
I've been absent for a few days and naughtily spending money down in London...whoops.
I love Humans too, I recorded the latest one and will sit down to watch that this evening. It's already a little addiction of mine!
My clothes are snug too, but I've gotten this way through a love of Gin and all the tasty bad food. I need to try to reign it back in though as my clothes are no longer fitting and I don't want to spend out on new ones either. I hope you managed to find a few things to see you through work?
Your picnic the other day sounded lovely, great money saving day

Thanks Messymare
Hope the jogging is going well, I've still not got round to any exercise, DD was up humming at 3am and didn't want to go back to sleep, needing an energy boost!
Hiya Bexster, thanks for tip I've had the same dvd for about 6 years now, perhaps time for a change (not really due to MS just an extreme dislike of exercise). Current clothes are a no go, fingers crossed can find a few bits in charity shop this week.
Hope you enjoyed your stay in London Ruddersand been enjoying the gorgeous weather!
Low spend day with DD and friend today, just some ice cream at farm park. It has a big park and free softplay, plus we have a membership which has paid for itself several times over. Treated my friend to a picnic (felt soo mumsy)
Used last voucher off Mr S online shop, so £10 towards OP. Think we should be able to save on our food shopping so need to get meal planning (and stop popping in for the odd thing nearly every day).
few bits to music magpi* will get on with that tomorrow (best to sort dvds with hubs away as he'll just want to keep everything even though we don't watch it).

Morning
I had such a grumpy day yesterday. Missing OH, and should have avoided looking at finances, as it was not the best day to look at the overpayment calculator.
Does anyone else have days where they think why am I bothering with relatively small overpayments? Think it’s a combination of looking at our income and outgoings, and there is really nothing to shave off. No Sky, other memberships etc, everything is on the lowest tariff we could find bar broadband (on the list), and having only 1 wage coming in the last couple of years and missing the extra money.
ANYWAY, after a nice cuddly lie in with DD until 7 (after initial 5am wake up call), feeling a lot brighter and a lot less grumbly. :j
I suppose the trick is getting the right balance. I’ve got £34 to overpay (ok it’s not a huge amount but it’s from raiding the money box, cashing in all those pennies which seemed to have bred since I last counted, and from money from a couple of vouchers I had towards shopping). It’s essentially money we won’t miss going towards mortgage. :money:
Been reading some diaries and I think we’ll really benefit from having a target to overpay each month, maybe start looking at it that way. I suppose that’s the danger when starting the MF journey is you want to start throwing everything at it all at once. I’ll get thinking about our target, and no more grumpy posts from me :rotfl:
Off to a play date this afternoon, £2.50 for visit to play centre for a few hours, I’m off to pack some snacks (shhh).

Thanks Bluefire
it's all a step in the right direction. Think breaking it down into smaller chunks will be really beneficial.
Thinking about a target we do need to get a savings account built up (roughly £1,000 in savings atm), and a bit of work to do to the house, and need to start thinking about putting a bit away towards a newer car, so going to be realistic with the overpayment goal.
Going to set a target of overpaying by £2,500 in the next year. Hopefully can improve on this once I know my total income and hopefully increasing my hours (haven't started yet but thinking in the right direction).
Think that's an achievable target for now and feeling motivated to get there

Hi Cel,
London was brilliant, my friend and I had a excellent time. The only downside was the AirBnB, the owner came home drunk and kept us up banging around in the kitchen next to the room. We have complained and they had said they will refund us, so hopefully £50 coming my way soon.
I think setting the target of £2500 OP for the next year is a brilliant idea. That way you'll really see a difference each time you make an OP and it will feel great! It will definitely feel better then if you keep looking at the larger amount as a whole.
Keep ploughing on, you'll get there!

Cel - i have the mental approach of thinking that's £5 i'll never pay interest on again. But i also have the approach of "that's 2 days interest for the month taken care of".
I then think about what that little over payment will count as in 1yr time, as it'll eat up more of the daily interest etc...
Little and often is a big method of mine, and i like to make 1 over payment per week, even if thats a simple tilly tidy.
Keep plodding on and attacking those banks!MFW: Was: £136,000.......Now: £47,736.58......0 -
Oh heck disappearing posts! :rotfl:
Thanks Rudders, glad you had a nice time away. Did your refund come through?
shangaijimmy your diary has really helped me get into the right mind set, thanks for your advice. You seem very focused and sure you'll be MF in no time! (you need to stick around to help motivate all us MF wanabees though).
Well I've decided to keep my OP target (and diary) quiet for now. Tried talking to hubs at weekend and zero progress made, he just hates talking about money. Just don't think we're on the same page as yet, and at the moment all OPs are coming out of what's left of my holiday money following maternity, and the value of any vouchers I've used on things we would have bought anyway. i'll keep on as I am for now.we'll get there.
Stillllllllllll waiting for a start date for work (beginning to think I dreamt the whole thing  ), can't wait to get started. At moment all future OPs and going to come from FB sales and vouchers etc, slow progress
Managed to find DD a small playhouse on ebay a quarter of cost as new. she loves the one in nursery so can't wait for it to arrive (used the last of her birthday money up now).
Hope everyone has a good day, off to softplay again this afternoon (free session and having lunch before going :money:) perfect for a rainy day.
Ooo also notices I have a gold star by my name, not 100% on what the stars mean but happy to have one

Looking forward to following your journey! I am in the process of buying a place and already planning to try and overpay but I think I will be very similar in trying to find the balance between fun and overpaying.. sometimes I have a tendency to go to the extremes on things eeek!
I like the way someone else described the little overpayments as money you wont have to pay interest on.. I think that's a good way to look at/think about it
What I want to do when I sort my place out is get used to paying more from the start i.e. set the standing order at £50 higher than it has to be or something, and then do what you are doing with the extra money saved on coupons etc to make little extra OPs!
How is everything with the job? Will you find the start date soon do you think?0 -
Thanks Tinkerbell, do you have a dairy? I'm reading through so many diaries at the moment, love all the different ideas
great news about your house, do you have a moving in date yet? still waiting on job news. My previous company only give very brief references as standard which is causing the delays. My previous manager has given me a personal/ character reference so just waiting to hear if that is enough. makes me wonder what all the working late, taking on extra work etc was for
Had such a lovely weekend. £16 spent on a day out at a petting farm with DD, friends and their little ones. Mentioned we were taking a picnic rather than eating in the caf!, and everybody joined us which was nice. Find it so much easier with DD, and can relax a lot more : ) :money:
Day out with family at National trust today. We had to renew our membership so £100 spent, but we get so much use out of the membership so money well spent. Lovely picnic too (recurring theme), and just a couple of ice creams. All spends on OH this weekend (could get used to this).
Received a letter to say am due a £40 tax rebate which was a nice surprise as wasn’t expecting anything. Will use it towards OP hurry up cheque.
Been avoiding food shopping bar buying the essentials. Amazing how much you have stored away without realising. Been meaning to do a big shop since Weds, but managed to get meals out of bits and bobs in cupboards and freezer. OH is starting to notice strange combinations so think I’ve been rumbled.he's also raising eyebrows at my demands for his 2 and 1ps
Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend x
