Opinions of the HTC M9

Hi guys,
I've really been struggling to find a phone that I like, and the budget seems to have slowly increased
Mainly because i just can't find anything I like. I've been thinking more and more about the HTC M9, which is a beautiful phone but opinions about it seem to be so mixed. And the price is, well, a lot, compared to what I was originally thinking about spending.
However, with the 20% off ebay are offering today I can get it for what seems to be a reputable seller for about £420. Which seems almost reasonable.
I've wondered if I should just get a M8, but I don't know. My current phone is a HTC desire X, so anything is going to be a major upgrade I guess.
Any thoughts or actual user experiance?

I've just got an HTC M8 after years of Samsung and I think it is an amazing phone. I didn't bother looking at the M9 because I always buy the second down from the latest and greatest. I find that I can get a better percentage of the cost back when I come to sell them that way. Let some other sucker take the hit0

when did £420 become reasonable for a phone!
massively overpriced - keep your old phone and save £0 -
You can get a lot of decent phones in the £200 price bracket these days, take for example the Asus Zenphone 2.

I don't see that promotion anywhere, it's a great deal if it's legit. Just be aware most of the '-20%' priced phones are coming (relatively slowly) from the Far/Middle East but are listed WITHOUT VAT, and that VAT will become applicable at import, so the deal isn't as good a deal as it sounds. In fact it's slower for an offshore model (may be different specs), and may cost you more once you factor duty/VAT import handling fees (£8++ on top of the taxes owed).
The M9 is a nice phone though, as is the LG G4, Samsung S6 etc - there's not a lot between them at the moment, all really lovely handsets.0 -
While I appreciate it's a lot for a phone.. that wasn't really the question. My old phone needs replaced, or else I wouldn't be trying to replace it. And it's not through lack of looking, I'm just struggling to find anything I really like.
I'd rather spend more and get something I like than make do with something I'm only half happy with. I was seriously interested in the zenphone 2 until I realised its massive.
Paddyrg, thanks, I reckon I could get the S6 for the same price, I don't think I'm a fan though, especially the lack of expandable memory I think is inexcusable when you are paying as much. I'm annoyed enough that build in batteries are almost unavoidable now.
So the 20% off code, as far as I can tell is ebay-wide up to £50.

The seller I'm looking at is this one, seems a legit UK model.

Been running an M7 since launch.
No problems and happy with the phone.
The M8 & M9 build on that. I would be happy to upgrade when/if the M7 dies.0 -
Thanks Custardy, I'm having serious debates right now. It is an awful lot of money for a phone, I know that. But it's not because I need the latest tech or anything like that. It's just because it's one of the few phones on the market just now I actually like.
I'm terrible at making decisions and even worse at spending money.0
